M.  Arslan has over 30 years experience in the carpet trade. At the age of eleven, Arslan left home, running away to ensure that he could continue his schooling instead of becoming a farmer as he father had wished. Arslan was found by a carpet seller in the nearest town and taken on as an apprentice.

His benefactor saw that Arslan received both a traditional education and training in recognizing and appreciating the finest of Turkish carpets. After serving for 13 years as apprentice and assistant, Arslan started his own business. As a beginning entrepreneur, Arslan had no capital. However, the contacts he had made in the carpet industry recognized his potential for creating a successful business. Arslan was able to obtain a shop and inventory on credit, his integrity as his only collateral.

In the last 17 years, Arslan's reputation has grown and he now brings his best stock to America. Arslan has a wide variety of carpets to show. From the traditional Kilim (a flat woven rug) to Cicim (an embroidered and flat woven rug) to the popular pile carpet. Each carpet is hand woven and is made with hand spun wool and hand dyed with primarily vegetable dyes.

Each year Arslan travels into the country, visiting small villages and purchasing carpets woven as dowry pieces. The carpets have all been used by the village people and been cared for as family heirlooms. Each carpet is cleaned and any necessary repairs are made before being added to Arslan's stock of over 1000 carpets.

Each carpet is unique and utilizes designs and patterns handed down for generations. A carpet from Arslan's Anatolian Rugs is a unique piece and sure to be a treasured item in your home.
